The Stichting 162 restores and maintains rolling stock from WWII. The Stichting162 is primarily concerned with restoring and maintaining the ex War Department 70033 / NS 162 diesel locomotive in running order. This locomotive keeps alive the memory of the railways in and immediately after World War II, and specifically the running of freight trains on branch lines in sparsely populated areas like those in the provinces of Friesland and Groningen. In addition, the Foundation owns some matching historic freight cars of the former USATC (US Army Transportation Corps).
